I am an enterprise network engineer. A few years ago, I signed up for the training in the direction of Huawei HCIE digital communication at an institution, but it was delayed again and again due to work reasons, and finally gave up regretfully. But the "IE dream" has been suppressed in the bottom of my heart and has not been extinguished. Last year, I rekindled my passion for sprinting CCIE. After repeatedly weighing between H3CIE and CCIE, I finally chose the direction of CCIE EI with higher universality and gold content, and signed up for the WOLF-LAB system exam. From the first day of registration, I told myself that there was only one goal this time - to pass.

I. Learning stage: lay a good foundation and be goal-oriented

Before officially starting to study, I learned about the technical coverage of the CCIE Lab exam in advance and formulated an "examination-oriented" learning strategy to avoid detours. NA → NP stage: It takes about a month to complete it quickly, focusing on familiarization with commands and basic logic; preparation for the written test: mainly memorizing the questions, and passed smoothly after about a month; CCIE stage: after passing the written test, after I got the CCIE Rack authority and the exam preparation guide, I inspected the Lab Focus on quickly complete the CCIE stage technology, including: MPLS, DMVPN, SD-WAN, SDA, etc.

II. CCIE Lab practice stage: method is more important than time

At the beginning of the CLI part, it was almost impossible to complete the solution document independently. I summarized a set of practice processes suitable for myself:

1. For each question, first summarize the standard solution method according to the two steps of "solving ideas → phenomenon verification";

2. In the early stage, the local simulator first summarizes the configuration by itself, and then brushes it on Rack to compare whether the Report meets the standard configuration;

3. Even if you don't have time in Rack, you can practice the whiteboard locally at any time and focus on the unfamiliar parts.

The recommendation of the problem-solving steps is fixed as follows: look at the question (understand the needs + think clearly) → open the device → look at the existing configuration → knock on the configuration → verify (phenomenon + configuration) → save.

The GUI part also needs to sort out the standard operation steps. Take SD-WAN as an example, it is basically remembered in the following order: function template (template name + parameter brief) → device template (which functional templates are associated) → template parameters (confirm the number of parameters after linking the device); it is recommended to use your own tips or briefs to assist memory for the content with more steps. Some other error-prone points need special attention, such as Preview Diff before pushing the configuration, confirm that there is no error before pushing, and prevent pushing off the line; key check: VPN0 interface name/status/IP, next-hop gateway (default route), maximum number of control connections, System IP, S Ite ID and so on.

I habitually record the mistakes I encounter in every practice, focusing on the points that are often made; don't be afraid of making mistakes in the practice stage. Mistakes are the best learning opportunities. At the same time, the methods and points of attention shared by other students in the exam preparation group are also valuable learning resources. As the number of exercises increases, you will find that the more you do, the smoother and faster you practice. It is recommended to be a little slower than usual during the exam. If you encounter mistakes that you have never seen in the examination room, you are more likely to be nervous, so you should try to avoid spending a lot of time on making mistakes caused by yourself.

III. On the day of the exam: stabilize your mind and do it right.

Before making an appointment for the exam, I heard that there were rumors of CCIE changing questions; then I waited for about a month, but there was still no clear news about the new questions. I didn't want to practice the configuration of the experimental rack every day. In the end, I decided not to delay it anymore and asked Mr. Yang to help me book a seat in the Beijing examination hall in 10 days. On the day of the exam, I opened the Design section and found that it was an old question. I was relieved, but I had a "hallucination" when I did two questions, and I was a little uncertain about the answer. After finishing it, I felt a little apprehensive. Entering the Doo part, I happened to get the most desired Doo3, so I slowed down and finished all the questions in about 3 hours. In the remaining 2 hours, I checked it carefully from multiple dimensions and submitted it near the end. The first thing after leaving the examination room was to check the two uncertain questions of Design in the morning - after confirming that there was no problem, the hanging heart completely landed; that night, I received a Cisco email, and after logging in and seeing Pass, I felt that everything was worth it.
